apple-payApple Pay Starts Tomorrow.

For years, companies have been talking about replacing credit cards with smartphones to pay for goods. But consumers have been slow to play along.

That could change tomorrow when Apple unveils its new Apple Pay program

Apple Pay will hit the ground running – with more than 220,000 retail locations that will accept payment on it. Major payment networks Visa, MasterCard and American Express and more than 500 banks are on board. Retailers include such biggies as McDonald’s, Macy’s, Chevron gas stations, Walgreens and Panera Bread.

Why is this such a big deal?

  • Quicker and easier to pay, one touch
  • Much more secure than credit cards
  • Instant notifications

If you have an Apple Watch, you can use that to pay instead of your phone.

Here’s the fine print… Apple Pay will initially only work with the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, the Apple Watch, and the new iPads that were recently announced.  Before you roll your eyes and dismiss this, consider that this is simply the first step.  Many companies have been talking about doing this for years, but none have brought it to market.  It won’t be long now before everyone can do it!
