CCleaner

I’m seeing more and more commercials on TV about software you can buy to speed up your computer. Of course you can do a Google search and find dozens of similar products that cost nothing – many of which automatically install unwanted programs and even malware (get what you pay for?).

The best of these programs is available for free with no strings attached and it won’t muck-up or endanger your computer. It works on both Mac and PC.

It’s called CCleaner (pronounced see-cleaner), and to-date has been downloaded over 1 billion times! It was originally called Crap Cleaner, which was its purpose – to get rid of temporary files, history, cookies and other stuff that slows down your computer. As it matured, the name was shortened to CCleaner to prevent any offense and to allow corporations to use it.
